The Averos Science Education Foundation was founded by the married couple H. Drs Imam Wahyudi and Hj. Dra. Indarwati. Both of them have been serving as teachers in Papua since the early 1990s and have been residing in Sorong since 2000. They share a dream of creating outstanding generations in Papua through quality education.

Their shared dream was first realized through the establishment of Sanggar Sains Averos in 2002, tutoring classes for students from elementary to high school. The name Averos was derived from the medieval scientist Ibn Rushd (Averroes), who was an expert in philosophy, medicine, language, astronomy, and physics. Sanggar Sains Averos was originally located at Jl. Dworowati no. 37 km. 12, which has now been converted into MTS Sains Al-Gebra. At that time, Sanggar Sains Averos gained a good reputation and successfully attracted hundreds of students.

In 2005, Averos High School was opened with a class of 20 students. The facilities at that time were limited to one classroom, a biology lab, a computer lab, and a teachers' room. However, despite the limited facilities, Averos excelled in the National Science Olympiad (OSN) competitions since its first batch. This achievement was a result of the dedication of the teachers and the diligence of the students in acquiring knowledge.

In 2012, Averos relocated to Jl. D.E. Osok. In this new location, our facilities are enhanced to support teaching and learning activities. This relocation was carried out with the aim of continuously improving the quality of education provided to the students.

Since our establishment to the present day, Averos has maintained its commitment to provide quality education and encourage students to achieve excellence in various fields, especially in science and technology.
