Proud achievements were accomplished by a student from Averos High School in Sorong City named Fardony Rozi Saputra, who won the Gold Medal at the prestigious research competition in Indonesia, OPSI (Indonesian Student Research Olympiad) 2018, held from October 15 to 20, 2018, in Semarang, Central Java.

The research titled "ALAT KOMUNIKASI TUNA RUNGU BERBASIS ARDUINO DENGAN KONTROLLER BLUETOOTH" (Bluetooth-based Arduino Communication Device for the Hearing Impaired) led Rozi to become the winner of the Research Olympiad organized by the Directorate of Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Over a period of nearly four months, Rozi successfully built a smart watch for the hearing impaired, which can connect to a mobile phone. By utilizing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system on an Android phone, conversational data can be converted and transferred into text, which can be displayed on the OLED screen of the wristwatch for the hearing impaired.
